The short version: we collect as little as possible. We never see or store your card details. We do not sell your data to anyone.
Who we are
China Unstuck is an independent publication that sells step-by-step guides for travellers and new arrivals in mainland China. Questions about anything on this page: support@chinaunstuck.com.
What we collect
- Your email address — only if you email us or buy the kit (you enter it at the Creem checkout). We use it to deliver your purchase, answer your question, and (very occasionally) tell you when a guide is updated.
- Basic, anonymous usage data — things like which pages get opened and roughly where in the world visitors are. This is aggregate and not tied to you personally.
- Payment information — handled entirely by our payment provider. Card numbers go directly to them; we never receive or store them.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
- We do not run advertising trackers or sell your behaviour to ad networks.
- We do not require an account to read the free guides.
Third parties we rely on
- Payment processing — Creem acts as our merchant of record: it runs the checkout, collects the sales tax where it applies, and shares only what we need to deliver the product (typically your email and order status). Your card details never reach us. Creem appears on your card statement.
- Analytics — we use a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not build cross-site profiles.
- Email — if you contact us, your message is stored in our email account.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy and is responsible for the data it handles.
Cookies
We use a minimal number of cookies, only where needed for the site to work and for anonymous usage measurement. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites.
How long we keep things
Order records are kept for as long as we need to provide support and meet tax obligations. Support emails are kept until they are no longer useful. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
Your rights
You can ask us, at any time and free of charge, to tell you what data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email support@chinaunstuck.com and we will handle it.
Children
Our guides are intended for adult travellers. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page.
